What a strange week it has been! We hope that you have survived the week at home and are getting used to our new way of life.
To support you in your new role of ‘home schooling’ your child, we will now be creating a weekly sheet of activity ideas to do with your child. These will focus on the areas of Literacy and Maths and will be designed so that the children will still cover areas we would have covered had we still been open.
We are aiming to make the activities easy to do at home and hopefully appealing for the children! There will be five activities for Maths and five for Literacy. If you could do one a day from each area, that would be great.
We shall also set spellings each week and these words can be practised throughout the week with a focus on neat, joined handwriting. It would also be great if you could do some sort of daily reading activity. There are some links below for reading resources and you can use the reading sheets sent home in the work packs and the reading books sent home. Together, you could also have a go at reading picture books you already have at home, recipe books, packaging labels etc.
Having said all of this, we are fully aware that everyone’s home situation is different. These are very unusual times and if you are struggling with getting your child to do these activities then stop. Play some board games, do a jigsaw, bake a cake, listen to music, share a book or cuddle up and watch TV with a blanket and popcorn. Just do what you can and ignore the rest.
We have a new email address email@example.com and will be checking our emails regularly. If you have any questions or worries at all then please do get in touch as we have not forgotten you, you are very much in our minds and we would really love to be able to support you in any way we can through these strange times.
We will also check the Purple Mash blog at least twice a week to approve any new comments and posts and shall set a couple of new ‘2Dos’ for the class on a Monday.
Take care everyone and stay safe.
Mrs Vicki McCann and Miss Jenny Crossthwaite
Weekly Activity Sheet for the 30th March can be found here
There will be no activity sheets over the 'Easter holiday's.
A 'lock down' spring time poem can be found here (I think 'mum' should be interchangeable with 'dad'!) Enjoy the sunshine and spending time together at home!
